In general, Sanskrit literature is a term referring to written works in
the Sanskrit language which have a history spanning several thousands
of years.
Its contents can be divided into various categories including religious
sects, secular documents and stories, medicine, astronomy, etc. Thanks
to ancient writers, the study of religious traditions (mainly Hinduism,
Buddhism and Jainism), Indian history, people, society, philosophy and
medicine was made possible.
This session will focus on introducing the important works of Sanskrit
literature, such as the epic Ramayana as well as popular fables including
Pancatantra. The taste of the wisdom of Indian Sanskrit literature will
allow participants to open their eyes and make life more meaningful and
enjoyable.

Yuan teaches classes in the Religious Studies Department of the University
of Regina.
