Pastoral Counselling & Spiritual Direction
(Similarities & Differences)
Saturday, November 26 (9:30-11:30 a.m.)
Pastoral care consists of broad activities of pastors, and in recent
years lay persons, who minister to individuals, society and other
systems of life. Pastoral Counselling and Spiritual Direction are
both modes of pastoral care. The primary purpose of spiritual direction
is to help people grow in an affective, conscious and explicit relationship
with God. Pastoral counselling attempts to help persons to help
themselves through a growing understanding of their inner conflicts
abut does so with an openness to the role God plays within their
life. This workshop will look at some of the similarities and differences
of these two modes of pastoral care with regard to models and processes,
how similar skills and tools are used, and pre-requisites and characteristics
of spiritual directors and pastoral counsellors. Are you called
to this?
Facilitator
