Do You Need Spiritual Direction?
Monday, October 3 (1:30-3:30 p.m.) and
Thursday, October 6 (7:00-9:00 p.m.)
Focus: Spiritual direction is for anyone who wants to have a deeper relationship with God. If you want to explore new ways to pray; if you feel the need for someone to help in discerning the call of God for you, then you may want to journey with a trained companion. This morning session is an opportunity to learn more about the process of spiritual direction and what happens during a session. We welcome your questions.

Praying With Scripture

Tuesday, October 4 (7:00-9:00 p.m.)
Focus: How can we use scripture in our prayer? Judy will explore two approaches to praying with scripture, and participants will have an opportunity to personally experience these during the evening.

Facilitator - Judy Pellerin
Judy Pellerin is an educator, having taught for sixteen years at the elementary school level, and worked for thirteen years as a parish assistant. She then trained in “Massage: The Art of Anointing” at Berkeley, California, completed her training as a Reiki Master, and was trained for the Archdiocese of Regina as a spiritual director. Along with these ministries, she also does occasional workshops and retreats.

“55 Alive”
Thursday, October 6 (9:00-4:00 p.m.)
Focus: “55 Alive”: Driver Refresher Course for Mature Drivers, a course developed by the Canada Safety Council and supported by CAA, and Royal Bank Financial Group Foundation. This driver refresher course is open to anyone 50 years of age and over. The day will be very informative and user friendly. Bring a friend along.

Celebrating what’s Right with the World

Thursday, October 20 (7:00-9:00 p.m.)
Focus: A look at the goodness and beauty of the world and how we might respond to that in a way that would draw us to deeper hope and gratitude.

Facilitator – Sr. Imelda Grimes RNDM (B.A. B. Ed and a Masters in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University in Chicago)
Besides teaching, she has been involved in formation and administrative work for her religious congregation as well as part of the team for the Lay Ministry Formation program in Regina and parish ministry in Fort Qu’Appelle, Lebret, and Balcarres. After being away for six years as part of her provincial leadership team, she is now living in Sask. and committed to the elderly and sick sisters of her community but also open to other opportunities.

MiniRetreat – “Wellness and the Spirit”
Weekend – October 21-23 (Friday 7:30 p.m. to Sunday after lunch)
Focus: This silent retreat will combine wellness awareness and input with awareness of God’s presence in our daily lives. Participants will experience how the two are interconnected. A Time for rest, A Time for relaxation, A Time for personal prayer and A Time for reflection. Bring shoes and clothing for outdoors.

Life after Debt: The MDGs Offer a Map of Hope (Social Justice)
Monday, October 24 (7:00-9:00 p.m.)
Focus: Why are over half of the countries in our world paying the price for being poor?
Come and learn more about the 8 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which were adopted by 189 member countries five years ago. The (MDGs) outlines a never-before promise by world leaders for peace, security, development, human rights and fundamental freedoms – all in one package. We are the first generation that has the financial resources and knowledge to meet the basic needs of all people in the world in an equitable manner. Can we make poverty history? Yes, we can! And with your help we will.

Facilitators: Sr Joyce Lorentz & Joan Fischer
Sr. Joyce Lorentz is a School Sister of Notre Dame (SSND). She has training and experience as an elementary school teacher, a human services counselor and a Spiritual Director.
Joan Fischer works as a Special Education Assistant in Division IV at Sedley High School. She is an associate member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame and through their invitation, she and Sr. Joyce attended a three day DPI/NGO Conference at the United Nations in 2004. Since then, Joan and Sr. Joyce have been spreading the Good News about the Millennium Development Goals along with the bad news about why we are not achieving them.

Osteoporosis – Information evening
Wednesday, October 26 (7:00-9:00 p.m.)
Focus: Osteoporosis is a disease that causes bones to become thinner. The body replaces bone; however osteoporosis causes the body to remove more bone than it replaces. Osteoporosis affects all ages and genders. [Women, Men and Teenagers are encouraged to attend.]

Facilitator – Eunice Dietrich
Eunice holds a degree in Education from the U of R; a diploma in Health Information Management. To her credit, Eunice is the only person in Saskatchewan to hold the CTR (Cancer Tumor Registrar) designation. She has worked in Health Care for 22 years and has directed the Health Information Program at SIAST for several years. Eunice and members of her family have first hand experience with Osteoporosis in theory and in practice. Eunice and her husband, Kurt, are active parishioners of Holy Rosary Cathedral.
