The Laity and Their Experience of Religion in the Middle Ages

Tuesday, June 14 (7:00 - 9:00 p.m.)

In this talk, we will discuss what has been learned about the attitudes of lay people towards Christian beliefs, the clergy, and the monasteries in later medieval Europe.

We will also look at the importance of local religious traditions to the formation of community identities and the role of the cult of the saints in civic life.

Facilitated by Dr. Allison Fizzard

Dr. Fizzard is an assistant professor of History at Campion College at the University of Regina. She teaches courses on medieval history, some of which are on the crusades, women in medieval Europe, and marriage and family in the middle ages.
