Music for the Sacraments

Saturday, April 16 (9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.)

Pope John Paul II wrote recently that “music is a privileged means to facilitate an active participation of the faithful”, and music must increase its role in the liturgy. This workshop will explore how good liturgical music helps participation and how to choose music that fulfills that role, first of all in the Sunday Eucharist.

Since all liturgy requires music, we will also discuss music in the celebration of baptism, confirmation, and even reconciliation and anointing of the sick. Participants will find it helpful to bring with them a choir edition of Catholic Book of Worship III.

Facilitated by Zita Maier

Zita is a free-lance writer for the Prairie Messenger and other publications. She has been a member of the Saskatoon and Prince Albert Diocesan Liturgy Commissions. She has long been involved in liturgical music.

Cost: $35 (includes lunch)
Registration deadline April 8.
