Representatives from Marian Centre/Refugee Community, Blue Mantle, Visitation House, John Paul II Centre, Parish Life, Wascana Rehabilitation Centre and Friends on the Outside will each present a 5-10 minute overview of ways in which volunteers can make a meaningful contribution followed by a dialogue with panel guests. Hope to see you there!

Jacob’s Wound – A Look at Our Religious Pathways Out of Wildness
Thursday, January 26, 7 to 9 pm
Herriot allows us to face up to our fear of wildness, to reconsider our urge to expunge pagan energy wherever we find it, and to ask what we have done by taming down religion to little more than comforting proverbs. Trevor, a Regina writer, will discuss his latest book, a blend of memoirs, theology and historical research. It includes stories about raising a tipi, myths from the Hebrew Scripture, history from the settling of the northern Great Plains and the establishment of St. Peter’s Abbey in Muenster. It will be an evening filled with a wealth you do not want to miss.

FACILITATOR: TREVOR HERRIOT is the author of River in a Dry Land, A Prairie Passage (2000) and Jacob’s Wound, A search for the Spirit of Wildness (2004) both published by McLelland and Stewart. He does a monthly phone-in show on birds on CBC Radio’s Noon Edition. He is a member of Holy Rosary Cathedral Parish. Trevor, and his wife Karen, have four children.
COST: $15/Seniors: $12 Register with payment before January 23
